HELLO WOMEN OF LEVITICUS 12
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Well, HELLO 2016!!! I’ll be writing a 2016 post soon but let me just say that the year started and took me by storm. I literally had no other option but to hit the ground running. Have you had the same experience with the start of this new year?
This weekend couldn’t have arrived sooner in order to get some rest time in… I hope you get some rest time in as well! Don’t forget to plan/schedule in rest time. (Side rant)
Let’s get to it.
Have you ever read the third book in the Bible? Geeze Leviticus! I won’t tell you all of my thoughts because go read it for yourself. Let me just say that it took some time… a lot of time to find the women in this book. 🙂
I found an entire chapter just for us ladies!!!
If you know anything about the book of Leviticus you might be cringing at what this chapter is about. With good reason.
Here’s the link, Leviticus 12, go read it and then come back. I’ll wait……
Gasp! Right?
Whoever said the Bible didn’t talk about women things never read Leviticus 12. LOL.
For those of you who didn’t click on the link… click it now here.
Ok so quick synopsis.
Chapters 1 – 12 have been all about cleansing rituals and burnt offerings. God was teaching the high priests the ways to maintain holiness before Him.
Chapter 12 gets extremely specific. It’s actually pretty controversial. Calling women unclean for giving birth and for menstrual cycles. Yes. You read correctly… chapter 12 is talking about women’s periods and how to become clean postpartum.
Told ya to read it for yourself!!!
I’m not going to dive into the specifics of this chapter because this is during a time when God’s people were living based on a law that required bloody, burnt sacrifices.
So why even write about it at all? Because you should know that this is in the bible. It’s part of the history of our faith.
Also because it’s time to set the facts straight!
There is nothing that you can do that makes you dirty before the LORD. Nothing that will make Him love you less!
Someone needs to read this right here. Jesus was the ultimate bloody, burnt sacrifice! His death and resurrection destroyed the era of the law and brought in the age of Grace!
Sweet sisters, God’s grace is so great! He sees us as we are. He sees our faults, sins, negative thoughts and emotions. He knows the worst of us. Those secrets that we don’t dare say out loud he is privy to them.
Yet, He loves us nonetheless.
Let these truths sink in.
Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
Psalm 103:12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
Romans 8: 38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Maybe today you feel the way Leviticus 12 describes, “unclean.” I know I have. The good news is that you do not have to continue feeling that way. Let today be the day you accept the freeing truth of the sacrifice that Jesus completed on the cross.
My Prayer For You:
Dear Jesus, I know the pain of feeling dirty, unclean and ashamed. That feeling of guilt that eats us alive on the inside. I pray for those reading this post who are feeling that way. I pray that through your word you may give them hope. I pray that you may speak to their hearts at this very moment and reveal to them your grace. I pray that they may know your the depth of your love. Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you because with you we are made clean, made new. We are made white as snow and separated from our sin the farthest distance possible. Thank you Jesus because you accept us as we are regardless of our sin. I pray that we may choose you, today and always. In Jesus’ name I pray all of these things. Amen.
Memory Verse: Psalm 103:12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
